Music at Dingley

2010

Sunday 18th April : 4.30pm

With 290 students, aged 8 - 18, Chetham's is the largest specialist Music School in the UK and the only Music School based in the North of England. Recently, their students have broadcast for BBC Radio 3, performed at BBC Proms in the Park, composed music in response to artworks from the British Art Show and performed as part of an exhibition at Manchester Museum. So we are delighted once again to welcome the Ensembles for a late afternoon Sunday concert.
Tickets for the concert cost £17.50 (£15 for Friends). For those booking in advance, supper will be available in The Porch House after the concert at a cost of £16 (£13 for Friends).
Please note this is a revised date - you may already have it in your diary for March so please beware.

Saturday 18th December : 7.30pm
A Celebration of Christmas with the Cecilian Singers.

The Cecilian Singers, a chamber choir of 20 mixed voices, is based in Leicester. Their broad repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to the present day. They owe much of their success to the quality of past and present Music Directors - Malcolm Goldring, Brian Kaye and currently Jeremy Jackman. The choir was formed in 1982 from a group of highly-committed singers, all having wide experience of choral singing and many with a reputation as soloists. They regularly give celebrity concerts with international stars such as Emma Kirkby and Peter Skellern, and they have also taken part in the BBC Radio 4 Daily Service. The choir has made four successful tours of Northern Germany as well as Belgium and Northern Italy and they sang for us last year with much enthusiasm.

The Celebration will take the form of our usual format of seasonal songs and amusing readings, with audience participation required in some carols.
