Welcome to our 2016 season of concerts and my first Music at Dingley as the new Artistic Director. I am very excited to be taking over and to be bringing you some wonderful programmes and outstanding artists. I look forward to making new friends and to seeing you at these concerts.
We are delighted to open the series with Tamsin Waley-Cohen, described by The Guardian as a violinist of "fearless intensity", leading Vivaldi's masterpiece, The Four Seasons, and then directing the Mendelssohn Octet - two of the major masterpieces from the string repertoire. I will be performing with leading international musicians in a programme ranging from delicate solo flute to the rich Russian string writing of Arensky. Philippa Davies a "flawless flautist" (BBC Music Magazine) is amongst the performers. We welcome the young Solem String Quartet, winners of the 2014 Royal Overseas League Ensemble Competition. Finally the outstanding international pianist Martin Roscoe presents a programme inspired by and about nature - where better than at beautiful Dingley! One of Martin Roscoe's recent performances was described as "thrillingly done" by The Guardian.
